Founder Spotlight: Justin Carlson and Invivus Technologies

How Invivus Technologies is Building the Future of Healthy Indoor Air

For many entrepreneurs, the path to building a company starts with identifying a problem that needs solving. For Justin Carlson, that problem was deeply personal. After becoming seriously ill in 2020 due to exposure to environmental toxins, Justin spent years looking for answers and working toward recovery. Along the way, he discovered two things that made the biggest difference: access to information and support from people who had experienced similar challenges. Those experiences eventually led him to launch Invivus Technologies and develop Moldmap, a platform designed to help people make more informed decisions about the indoor environments where they live, work, and travel.

Background

Justin’s journey began long before Invivus Technologies. Originally from the Upper Peninsula, he spent years navigating the challenges that came with chronic illness related to environmental exposures. As he connected with others facing similar struggles, he noticed a common problem. While information existed across online forums and social media groups, there was no centralized place where people could easily find and share information about healthy indoor environments.

That realization sparked the idea for Moldmap.

Moldmap was really born out of necessity,” Justin explained. “The information people needed was scattered everywhere. I wanted to create something that could bring together community, data, and technology to help people make better decisions.”

Building Moldmap

Today, Moldmap is the world’s first community-powered healthy indoor air platform. The platform allows users to search, review, and evaluate hotels, apartments, rentals, and other indoor spaces based on factors that may impact air quality and environmental health.

Since launching its minimum viable product, Moldmap has continued to evolve. The platform now provides access to information on more than 126,000 hotels and apartments across the United States while continuing to grow its user community.

One of the newest additions is the SenseiReport, an AI-powered tool developed by the Invivus team. The tool helps users identify housing and travel options based on the environmental factors most important to them.

The company has also expanded its marketplace through partnerships with organizations that provide products and services aligned with healthier indoor living.

Growing the Team

After serving as an advisor to the company for the past two years, Mikey Tabak, Ph.D. officially joined Invivus Technologies as Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer. In his new role, Mikey leads software development and data modeling efforts for the Moldmap platform.

“Mikey has been involved with the company for years,” Justin said. “Having him join full-time allows us to accelerate development and continue building the tools and features we’ve envisioned from the beginning.”

Together, Justin and Mikey are preparing for the next phase of growth, including the launch of the Moldmap mobile application and continued enhancements to the web platform.

Looking Ahead

Invivus Technologies is entering an exciting new phase of growth. With Tabak joining the company full-time, the team is focused on expanding the Moldmap platform and bringing new tools to users.

One of the biggest milestones is the launch of the Moldmap mobile app, which is currently live on the app store for both iOS and Android. Looking ahead, the company plans to continue expanding Moldmap’s environmental intelligence capabilities, helping people make more informed decisions about th places where thy love, work, stay, and travel
